Andréa Olivia (b. 1991) is a New York City based artist whose work chronicles the politics of flesh, navigating the internal world of a Black American trans woman. Since earning her Master of Fine Arts from the New York Academy of Art, Olivia’s practice has expanded from a localized feminist critique into a broader more vital exploration of survival under the global weight of patriarchy. Her work rejects voyeurism, demanding that the viewer confront systemic power while witnessing the act of marginalized survival in the modern world.
